Francesco Lami joins Nature Conservation as a new Subject Editor

17 July 2026

Francesco Lami is an entomologist and ecologist currently working as a postdoctoral fellow at the Department of Agricultural and Food Sciences of the University of Bologna (Italy). His main research interests are landscape ecology, ecosystem services and the conservation of biodiversity in agricultural systems. He has worked on a wide range of taxa, with a focus on beneficial arthropods such as predatory beetles and pollinators.

A central element of Francesco’s research is how biodiversity and ecosystem functions are shaped by the interplay between landscape features and local-level habitat management. Through innovative approaches, such as the application of bipartite network analysis to the study of species-habitat interactions, he strives to produce actionable knowledge that could improve the sustainability of agroecosystems.

"As an agroecologist, I am especially glad to join the editorial team of Nature Conservation. Due to the damaging effects of agriculture on the environment, agroecosystems are often ignored when thinking of biodiversity protection areas. However, with croplands now among the dominant biomes on Earth, and with agriculture itself being so dependent on ecosystem services, there really is no place where nature conservation is more urgent than in our crop fields."

You can find him on LinkedIn, Instagram and Google Scholar

On behalf of Nature Conservation, we are delighted to welcome Francesco Lami to the editorial team and look forward to a productive collaboration.
